Olivier Awards 2017: full list of nominations

The 2017 nominations were announced on Monday by Denise Gough and Matt Henry. The Olivier Awards are presented annually by the Society of London Theatre in recognition of excellence in professional theatre. The ‘Olivier Awards’ were originally known as the ‘Society of West End Theatre Award’s’, but in 1984 the event was renamed in honour of the British actor Laurence Olivier.

The awards are given to individuals involved in West End productions and other leading non-commercial theatres based in London across a range of categories covering plays, musicals, dance, opera and affiliate theatre. The Olivier Awards are also considered as the equivalent to Broadway’s Tony Awards and France’s Molière Award.

The 2017 Olivier Awards will be handed out on April 9 at Royal Albert Hall.
